Hand dyed shibori cottons in indigo, underpainted in fiber reactive dyes, whole cloth, hand quilted with sashiko stitches.

 

This is one of two quilts picturing a huge erratic that sits on the edge of one of the "Bubbles" in Acadia National Park.Erratics are boulders that were pushed by glaciers.

 

Patterns are created by gathering stitched areas before dyeing in indigo, removing stitches and then putting stitches in again as layers are quilted together with sashiko thread.
