Hand dyed (shibori) cottons in indigo; pieced, quilted & appliqued

by hand and by machine.

The format of this quilt is a Buddhist kesa, or prayer shawl. It was inspired by a 13th century Chinese poem that reads:

"Ten thousand flowers in spring,

The moon in autumn,

A cool breeze in summer,

Snow in winter.

If your mind isn't clouded by unneccesary things,

This is the best time of your life."
